Conversations at the beginning of a new time

- media/censorship in China
- Internet access
- current discourses in politics and society
- what makes the Chinese culture so unique
- why we should learn more about China – why we should embrace and accept cultural differences

Conversations at the beginning of a new time – the idea

We have come to an unprecedented moment in history. Many institutions and economies are in flux. Some say we have come to the end of an age and feel great anxiety about the future. The next twenty-five years will see the pace of scientific and technological change become so rapid and its impact so deep that human life will be irreversibly transformed. We are at a hinge of global history and need all we can muster to manage safe passage.

Explore with us how we can manage safe passage while discovering a new and challenging way of film making. Become part of the journey and contribute to this web movie project! Join our conversations at the beginning of a new time!

Here is our trip!

Inspired by talks with Mme. Abiba, Bernhard Angerer, Bea Gschwend, Stuart Kauffman, Peter Kruse, Isaac Mao, Peter Mitterhauser, Alexander Rausch, Martine Rothblatt, Ingrid Schreiber, Isifou Salifou, Soeren Stamer and many others WE’ll ask 10 BIG QUESTIONS which WE believe need to be asked and discussed and maybe answered from an international global audience! These are questions which challenge all of us!

If we don’t find adequate answers we might get stuck and miss the chance for a much brighter future!

For each of these questions we provide background information. Feel free to add your thoughts and opinions and send us YOUR material (text, picts, audio, video …). We’ll upload it and make it available. In addition to that we’ll have for each and every question an online event (see our schedule here) where we discuss with visionaries, experts and people like you and me possible answers and solutions.

At the end of our journey – after 10 online events and hopefully tons of contributions from you – 50 contributors and us come together in an Open Space Event in Europe to figure out how the final movie might look.

This hybrid project – film and website – will bring together traditional documentary portraiture and the cutting edge collective intelligence on the net which is necessary to answer the profound questions we’ve asked!

Let’s make our future brighter and the world a better place!
Leave behind old structures and old systems – enter the new time which is just about to begin …
The is not a static thing – it is our on-going conversation with the living web!
